Data You Give Us Directly
A name, telephone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies those results. Our servers do not retain a copy of that search. If you contact us, we receive the contents of your message and use them to respond.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our hosting keeps ordinary server logs: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We look at this in aggregate to keep the site healthy and to see which pages readers use. Cookies or similar technologies may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
What We Do With This Data
Automatic data supports site operation, troubleshooting, traffic measurement, and page improvements. We neither sell visitor lists nor create individual visitor profiles.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their privacy policies, not ours, govern what you submit there. That is especially true of the sponsored search results, which a third-party company provides.
Who Might See Your Data
The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
How We Protect Your Data
An encrypted connection protects traffic in transit, and logs are retained only as long as the stated uses require. Because there are no visitor accounts, the site stores no account password or member profile for you.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Privacy rights can depend on where a visitor lives and the kind of data involved. Louisiana's Data Privacy Act, Act 502 of 2026, takes effect January 1, 2027 and gives qualifying consumers rights against covered larger data controllers, subject to statutory thresholds and exemptions. It does not create a general right to erase public records. Louisiana's Database Security Breach Notification Law, La. R.S. 51:3071 et seq., separately governs covered personal information and breach duties. Because we keep very little, a request usually means checking the contact mailbox and available server logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Records held by Louisiana or Jefferson Parish offices remain under the custodian's control, so correction or confidentiality requests must go there.
Updates to This Policy
Any change to this policy will be posted on this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
